Frequently Asked Questions
Treatment Questions
All our pest control treatments are designed to be safe for use around people and pets, with minimal environmental impact.
Before we carry out any pest control treatment we carry out a safety risk assessment and discuss any particular safety concerns with the customer.
We use products with the best safety profile.
However, we always still require that people and pets are kept out of the treatment area during application and do not re-enter until the necessary time has elapsed (e.g. until a spray treatment has dried).
For commercial pest control treatments, we comply with any additional regulations, particularly in food management businesses.
Before we visit a quick tidy up is a good idea, so we can access, inspect and treat all necessary areas. In particular put away any toys and move away light belongings from inside walls of rooms and any items from the outside walls of the building. If we can’t access the walls, we can’t inspect and treat them, which means you will get a incomplete treatment and the warranty will be void.
Make sure pet food bowls are removed from the treatment area and any fish tanks and ponds are covered. Whilst we take all possible care during the treatment there is always the possibility of accidental spray drift and although insecticides are relatively safe for mammals (humans and pets), they can impact aquatic life.
You don’t have to leave the home during the pest treatment, but people and pets need to be kept clear of the treatment area during application. In the case of spray treatments, people and pest needs to stay out of the treatment area until the treatment has dried. However, some customers prefer to leave as it is easier.
Once the treatment has dried it is OK for people and pets to re-entry the treatment area. Our treatments do not smell, so there is no need to “air the house”.
In areas where there has been a spray treatment, they work as a residual surface treatment – the insects walk on the surface and pick up insecticide and die. Washing areas which have been sprayed with water or cleaning agents will reduce the duration of protection.
Remove any spider webs with a broom – washing them off with water will wash away the insecticide and reduce the duration of protection.
It is important you carry out any of the recommended remedial actions to maximise the performance of the treatment and help prevent re-infestations. (eg. Good hygiene practices).
The cost of a pest control treatment depends on the nature of the pest problem, the level of the infestation and the size of the property.
For residential general pest treatments, the cost depends on the size of the house (number of rooms and length of building perimeter) and the construction (does it have a sub-floor and roof void) and the size of the property surrounding the building.
For commercial customers, we design a commercial pest control program matched to the needs of your business. The price depends on the nature of the business, size of the buildings, the pest issues at hand, the frequency of servicing and the level of documentation required.
