- Although ant baits starting working straight away, they are slow acting so they can kill the whole colony. For nests in and around the home, you will still a big drop in ant numbers within 24 hours, with the nest eliminated in 3-7 days. For green-head ants in the lawn where we use baits, it can take 1-2 weeks to eliminate the nest.
- When we spray areas with insecticide or carry out a perimeter treatment, the treatment will kill an ants it contacts but it is actually designed as a residual treatment. Ants walking over the treatment will continue to pick up a lethal dose of insecticide for a number of weeks.
- For funnel ant treatments, where we either spray the funnels or apply a granular insecticide, it can take a day or two to eliminate the nest, as the ants need to come in contact with the treated soil for it to have an effect.
- When we do direct nest injections (eg. fire ants), the nest is eliminated immediately.
